A multi media, site specific Butoh performance conceived by Mai NGUYEN TRI, Stuart GLENDAY and Xuan SINDEN.
An exploration of the issue of DISPLACEMENT, currently faced by many Hackney Wick artists, through the metaphor of the hermit crab and its many shells.
The show will be performed throughout the week -end, in and out of Stuart Glendays geodesic Penta-yurt (our nomadic and temporary home/ shell/ performing space) which will be set and dismantled repeatedly to make surprise appearances in various parts of our celebrated area.
Our nomadic performing sphere will be seen:
-In a surprise out door location for the Friday the 28th July, the evening launch of the Hackney WickED Open Studio Weekend.
-On Saturday the 29th of July in Fish Island (near Stour Space)
-On the Sunday the 30th in Hackney Wick (between Shapes and Grow) and near the Overground station.
This nomadic street art show will surround itself with music, dance and art exhibits by War Is Illegal (https://www.facebook.com/War-
Our Penta-yurt will also encourage impromptu live performances from our Fish Island & Hackney Wick friends, local performers and fellow musicians throughout this 3 days celebration in the true spirit of Hackney Wick which has made this unique artistic community so very special as well as resistant to the current waves of urban gentrification in the East End of London.
