Lucy Harrison is an artist working with print, film and sound, who works on site specific projects in the public realm, usually engaging with people who live in the places where the projects take place.
Her recent work includes a large scale project exploring the Warner Estate in Walthamstow and Leyton through oral history and photography, and which has involved local people contributing their photographs to be included in an exhibition, website and mobile phone app, and which won the 2017 Waltham Forest Council Love Your Borough Arts & Culture award.
She also recently collaborated with George Legg, an academic from Kings College, to make a film and exhibition about the impact of the 1996 Docklands IRA bomb and how it affected witnesses, survivors and their families. The project was made with the co-operation of the Docklands Victims’ Association, who gave George and Lucy an award for their contribution to raising awareness of their cause.
In the 2017 Open Studios she will be showing films, publications and posters relating to projects from the last few years.
